Message from the Chairman of the Board

Dear Internet users,

Welcome to the website of the Civil Society Nutrition Network (RESONUT), Burkina Faso

Burkina Faso joined the SUN (Scaling Up Nutrition) Movement ten (10) years ago. This commitment has taken the form of several undertakings, including the successive creation of SUN networks. Against this backdrop, RESONUT, the SUN Civil Society Network for Nutrition, was born on December 16, 2014, with 32 members.

In the eight (08) years of its existence, RESONUT has grown to include 42 national and international organizations working in the field of nutrition and related sectors such as Agriculture, Environment, Water-Hygiene-Sanitation, Social Protection, Education and Human Rights.

In addition to the technical coordination team in charge of programming/planning, coordination, monitoring and evaluation of project implementation, the Network, in its drive for empowerment, has had a Board of Directors since December 4, 2020, chaired by the Association Chant de Femme, replacing the Executive Board previously led by the NGO Action contre la Faim Burkina

As part of its decentralization strategy and process, RESONUT now has member structures that are focal points in the Centre, Hauts-Bassins, Nord, Centre-Nord and Est regions.

In line with its vision of “Helping to make Burkina Faso a country free of hunger and malnutrition”, RESONUT has worked tirelessly since its creation to strengthen nutrition for children and pregnant and nursing women in Burkina Faso, through specific advocacy, communication and awareness-raising actions.

With this in mind, RESONUT, has to its credit, since February 2016, thanks to the support of its partners and allies, the realization of five advocacy projects. These are :

Burkina Faso’s Commitments to Nutrition Rio 2016″ project, funded by the New Venture Fund, from February 2016 to February 2017.

CAP project or “Change, Act and Progress for a malnutrition-free Burkina Faso”, funded by the Bill & Melinda GATES Foundation, from April 2018 to December 2021.

Pooled Fund Phase 2″ project, financed by UNOPS and the SUN Movement, from June 2019 to June 2021

Right to Grow (R2G) project funded over five years by the Dutch Ministry of Foreign Affairs.

Thanks to these projects, actions to strengthen the technical skills of members and focal points have been initiated. Several studies, including an analysis of Burkina Faso’s commitments to nutrition, government allocations and spending on nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions (2014-2015 and then 2016-2018 budgets), spending by Technical and Financial Partners on nutrition-specific and nutrition-sensitive interventions (2014 and 2015 budgets), types of multi-sector anchoring and accountability mechanisms, have been carried out to support our Advocacy and that of nutrition partners and allies.

In the long term, RESONUT’s development aims to achieve greater autonomy, strengthen the institutional anchoring of nutrition in Burkina Faso, set up and operate a mutual accountability mechanism for all nutrition players, mobilize political and economic decision-makers, the public and nutrition leaders, and effectively decentralize and strengthen its activities at local level. The long-awaited empowerment of our structure will only be possible thanks to the combined efforts of ourselves, our allies and partners (other SUN networks in the country, national and international NGOs, development associations, the SUN Country Focal Point, the technical departments of public ministries involved in nutrition, etc.), and you, the players and web surfers.

Dear Internet users, we invite you to regularly visit our user-friendly website, which has been specially designed to communicate with you and work together to improve the nutritional status of our populations²s.

Here you’ll find information on our latest news and also documentation on our nutrition advocacy to meet your needs. Together, with our mutual and sincere efforts and support (individual and collective), we will overcome hunger and malnutrition in Burkina Faso. Every positive idea, every gesture in favor of nutrition, is another step towards a world without hunger and malnutrition.

Malnutrition is not inevitable, it can be stopped!

We must act now!

Chairman of the Board of Directors
